Martin Robinson
My Story
Hello, I’m Martin Robinson and I’m proud to be standing as the Reform UK candidate in the Bury St Edmunds Tower Division by-election for Suffolk County Council.
I’ve lived in and around Bury St Edmunds for over 30 years with my family. I first moved here to work for Baker Petfoods, based in Bury. As a project manager, I helped the business become more efficient and cost-effective—skills I now want to bring into local government.
Why I’m Standing
Suffolk County Council is £370 million in debt. In a shocking move, it asked the government to cancel local elections across the county—an act that I believe was aimed at covering up its own gross mismanagement.
This is not democracy. It’s deflection.
After 14 years of Conservative failure, we are now saddled with a Labour government that is making things worse. Labour has:
- Betrayed pensioners over winter fuel payments
- Launched a tax raid on farmers, threatening our food security
Local government is no better. The Conservative-led County Council is now proposing to cut local democracy altogether to "save" £20 million. Really?
A Local Voice for Local People
Thankfully, one local election remains: Bury St Edmunds Tower Division. On 3rd July, you have a voice.
Reform UK believes in common sense politics. We will restore accountability, protect local services, and put the people of Bury St Edmunds first.
With your support, I will:
- Bring practical experience and cost-conscious leadership to the council
- Challenge the mismanagement and waste
- Stand up for local democracy and integrity
